Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla Director Steps Down After Allegations

Creative director at Ubisoft, Ashraf Ismail, has announced that he is stepping his down from his role on Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla after allegations have surfaced against him for engaging in extramarital affairs.
Ismail published his statement to Twitter, saying: “I am stepping down from my beloved project to properly deal with the personal issues in my life. The lives of my family and my own are shattered. I am deeply sorry to everyone hurt in this.”

He then wished the best for everyone working on the game.
The accusations against Ismail are for pursuing relationships with women while concealing and lying about the fact that he was married. A Twitter user posted images of a text exchange with him that showed him appearing to hide his marital status.
These accusations come on a weekend where many allegations and accusations were leveled at figures around the gaming industry, including game developers and streamers. These kinds of accusations are, unfortunately, rather common in recent years within the industry with Riot Games being one example of a company who had a very public legal dispute over allegations.
When asked about what Ismail’s departure means for Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Ubisoft had this to say:
“Ashraf Ismail is stepping down from the project to take a leave of absence. The development team is committed to delivering a great game in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.”
