Modern Warfare is launching its new season tonight after it was delayed, indefinitely, to allow the spotlight to remain on the George Floyd protests.

After an indefinite delay, the fourth season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to launch tonight at 2 A.M. EST.

Infinity Ward, the developer behind the game, announced the news on Twitter to confirm the release after the original release date was postponed in response to the ongoing protests to the death of George Floyd.

The Call of Duty Twitter posted a message saying that it “is not the time” for the new season to be released.

“Right now it’s time for those speaking up for equality, justice, and change to be seen and heard. We stand alongside you.”

They have also committed to banning all racist names in its online modes and just recently released an update adding a message for Black Lives Matter for each player as they log on.

The delay in the Modern Warfare season is one of many games/companies that have joined together in voicing their support for the Black Lives Matter movement. Sony delayed its Playstation 5 reveal event (which is rescheduled for tomorrow), Rockstar Games shut down GTA Online and Red Dead Online for two hours, the newest season of Fortnite Chapter 2 was delayed, and many more.

Captain Price is the star of the new season, which is bringing new maps, new modes, and more to the first-person shooter. There will also probably be some big changes coming to Warzone as well, such as the arrival of zombies to the map.

Infinity Ward has warned that the download for the season will be “large”, though it will end up only adding an additional 4GB to the game’s storage space. The size of the game, which is pushing almost 200GB now, has been a point of contention among the community.

In other news for the series, the Playstation 5 reveal event tomorrow is rumored to be our first glimpse at this year’s installment, which is rumored to be called Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
