Laughter is the best medicine, and while they may not be as readily known, video games can be hilarious. Funny video games may not be quite as common as scary, violent or weird ones, but they definitely exist.

So, without further ado, let’s talk about funny video games, and the best ones that you can go binge!

The Outer Worlds

SciFi, sarcasm and space exploration is the meat of this game, and every minute of it is freaking quality. Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, the same team that brought us Fallout: New Vegas.

Stuffed with incredible characters and a wickedly dark sense of sarcastic humor. If you enjoy shows like Archer, Space Force and the like, then you will absolutely love the sense of humor that Outer Wilds brings.

Best part is that your character is equally as dark and sarcastic as the other NPC’s are. That really helps to round out the game. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that the game, gameplay, open world and design are phenomenal!

Grim Fandango

One of the first examples of dark humor in video games. Tim Schaefer and LucasArts brought gamers a hilarious crime ridden adventure with an amazing art style. 

It lives in the memory of many gamers as a nostalgia game, but honestly it holds up remarkably well even today. Besides, there is a remaster so the game definitely has options on how to enjoy it. There’s not much to really be said for this game, it’s a classic through and through.

Borderlands 2

Yes it’s not the newest one, but we personally believe that the 2nd Borderlands is by far the most superior one. 

Handsome Jack is one of the biggest reasons for that. Dameon Clark is the biggest reason that Handsome Jack works so well, his delivery is pitch perfect from beginning to end. Of course, when you also have characters like Claptrap, Lilith, Tiny Tina and many more.

At its core, Borderlands is a looter shooter with excellent controls, badass abilities and tons of loot to go find. Seriously, there’s like millions of guns and upgrades to go find so have fun.

South Park: The Stick of Truth

What happens when you combine the shock humor of South Park with an intelligently created old school RPG? You get one of the best games of the last 10 years is what you get!

Written by the madlads themselves, Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The Stick of Truth truly deserves the title of funny video game. Matter of fact, it is downright freaking hysterical. To be fair, if South Park is not your cup of tea, then you really won’t find that much different here to sway your mind.

For everyone else though, it’s a gut busting good time full of memorable moments!

Portal 2

With great one-liners, zingers, death threats, copious amounts of mystery, terrifying secrets, mind bending puzzles… Well the list goes on and on, Portal 2 is not only a hilarious game, it’s also a masterpiece.

Whether it’s the exposition delivered by J.K. Simmons, the one liners delivered by Stephen Merchant. And of course, Ellen McLain as GLaDOS. There’s so much to explore and uncover in Aperture, and the whole way you’re treated to some of gaming’s best writing.

We truly cannot recommend a funny video game that is overall better than Portal 2. It is so ridiculously amazing and funny that it puts other puzzle/shooters to shame.
