This version of the game was discovered on a hard drive by Obscure Gamers, and the footage was uploaded by Andrew Borman, the digital games curator at the Museum of Play.

The video is clearly from an unfinished build, which explains the undetailed levels, placeholder collectables, and untextured enemy models. In it, you can see Captain America in action, fighting off Skrulls with his shield. In the full video on YouTube, you can see Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk, as well.
Despite the unfinished state of the build, you can still clearly see what kind combat and gameplay the game had in store.
The game was planned to be a co-op adventure that would release alongside the first Avengers film. The story of the game was inspired by the “Secret Invasion” story arc, which sees the planet invaded by the Skrulls by shapeshifting into different members of society and taking their place.
The game was in development in 2011 at THQ Studio Australia and Blue Tongue Entertainment, but it was cancelled when THQ suffered financial issues and eventually closed.
While we will never see what this game could have been, we still have the Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix game coming out this month. This game will also be a co-op adventure and will be a third-person adventure. It is set for release in September.
