Destiny 2 Update – TWAB, Solstice Event and MORE

4 min read

Destiny 2's Solstice of Heroes event is almost here!

Solstice On the Field!

While we go through a  bit of a content drought in the face of Beyond Light‘s delay, there is still plenty to look forward to in Destiny 2. Solstice of Heroes drops next week which will bring with it tons of new milestones and gear to chase after!

Plus it brings back that really cool aerial zone arena and some enjoyable boss fights. But, that’s not the only thing that Bungie addressed in this weeks TWAB. So let’s jump in and talk about all the juicy details that Bungie lined up for us in Destiny 2.

Solstice of Heroes

As said before, Solstice is making its annual return inside of Destiny 2. This event focuses on completing challenging milestones, massive amounts of enemy kills and of course, bounties. Yes, Solstice will bring more bounties, but it also brings exclusive rewards with it as well.

Similar to events like Revelry, Guardian Games and Moments of Triumph. This event focuses more on where the Guardians are going rather than where they came from. Not so much of a celebration as it is a massive Guardian circle jerk. Honestly, we love Solstice of Heroes in Destiny 2

Thankfully, Bungie didn’t just reintroduce old armor from last year’s event. This time around, the armor is different and the glow effects/ornaments look way cooler than before! Similar to how it worked before, you have to upgrade the armor from rare to Majestic.

There are Some Changes However

Bungie also outlined a few different ways that Guardians can get their gear to Majestic status outside of the grindfest that was last year.

  • Complete a Nightfall Ordeal on the Master difficulty.
  • Complete a Nightmare Hunt.
  • Complete Pit of Heresy.
  • Win seven Trials of Osiris matches. (Not on a single Passage)
  • Complete a Tier 5 Altar of Sorrow three times.

So Bungie is giving players a lot more ease of use and freedom on how to obtain the Majestic set of Solstice armor. Granted, these are not the only sources that you’ll have to grind out, just a select few that Bungie teased.

Once you have the glow ornament from completing Majestic objectives (that was fun to say) you can apply the ornament to anything. That’s right, the majestic glow of purple, orange or blue is applicable to any Armor 2.0 set! You also get an exclusive fourth glow option for when Stasis launches with Beyond Light later this year!

Gotta Get That Money

Eververse will also have a selection of fancy new Sparrows, Ships, Ghost Shells and emotes to grind after if you want them. Similar to other events, you can either purchase everything with Bright Dust on a rotation schedule or shell out the Silver.

The Eververse items look failly solid, if a little uninspired. We definitely like the look of the Ghost Shells in particular, but that’s just our opinion. Of course, we’ve made it public before that we don’t really mind the Eververse store so we might just be biased.

Known Issues and Fixes

As always, someone is breaking something inside of Destiny 2, so Bungie outlined a very quick list of known issues being worked on by the dev team.

Means to an End, the ongoing story missions with Eris and the Tree of Light have been glitched out for several people. Meaning that players have been either unable to progress or unable to even begin the missions required. Hopefully that will no longer be an issue with this fix going live.

Spawning out of bounds in The Corrupted Strike during the Sedia boss fight is being looked into. Can attest to this one, really frustrating when you try to respawn and save your buddy during this BS Nightfall only for the game to shaft you. Honestly, I hated that Nightfall with a passion.

Names being censored on Steam as well as game chat issues have been resolved, so go nuts with the offensive material guys.

No Anti-Cheat, No Teases

That’s really the big highlights from the TWAB from Bungie. If you want to read the full TWAB it is linked here and up above in the opening paragraph. While we were hoping for maybe some kind of tease for the upcoming Evacuation Exotic quest, Solstice will tide us over.

What didn’t tide us over, was yet another week of Bungie not addressing anti-cheat. And yet, they had the guts to put in the Solstice entry, that a required milestone is inside of Trials. So if that’s the case, then it looks like we’re not finishing the full set.

Until there’s some decent anti-cheat, we’re not heading back into Trials. Elimination, sure we’re all about Elimination. But two whole seasons of cheating shenanigans in Trials of Osiris was enough for us, thank you.
