Destiny 2’s Newest Event Broke the Community

2 min read

How Do We Come Back From This?

Recently, there has been a lot of discussion around how Developer Bungie treats events in the game. After this week’s reset, there was no shortage of complaints being levied.

What it boiled down to was an egregiously long quest that would be seeing players spending MONTHS. Not days, not hours, months, to complete a community event that unlocked the final quest.

Meaning that if we were to play the community event to unlock the final quest for this season, we would never see it. We would be into the Fall Season Expansion by the time that this event completed.

So the playerbase, including myself, voiced our dissension with the event. Requesting a change to the event structure so that we could actually complete it in a timely manner. It seemed for a minute that Bungie just wanted the event to fail. Matter of fact, a lot of Lore people were saying that we weren’t meant to complete the event.

Obviously that is not the case, as Bungie came out yesterday and discussed this week’s TWAB. The event progression is now going significantly quicker than it was before and seems to actually be moving.

Downside is that this is just one of the issues that people are having with this season’s content. There have been all sorts of conversations pertaining to Trials, Grandmaster Nightfalls and Story.

Admittedly, I’m beginning to feel the burnout of this season myself. It is still full of cool stuff to collect, Heir Apparent in particular is freaking fun. But, there is so much rinse and repeat in this season and the playerbase is starting to feel it.

Whatever the case may be, The Lie quest is basically carrying the hopes and dreams of the community right now. We need this quest to be worth the effort and wait, with big leaks around the Fall Expansion, we need a tease.

How do you feel about Bungie’s newest Community Event? Have you been logging some time into it or do you not care at all? Let us know what you think in the comments!
