We are on the verge of an official announcement for the next entry in the Call of Duty series, Modern Warfare 2, as we now have the official logo for the game.

While we’ve know for awhile that this year’s entry in the series would be a sequel to the 2019 reboot, we haven’t seen much in terms of official art or gameplay. Infinity Ward changed that today when they posted the Modern Warfare 2 logo on their twitter in a short video.

Other than the logo, we didn’t get much other than some indistinguishable chatter and a neon green aesthetic which is certainly similar to the previous games.

Modern Warfare 2 was officially confirmed back in February, along with Warzone 2, and while we don’t know officially what the story of the game will be, rumors and leaks suggest it will see U.S. military forces fighting against Colombian drug cartel members.

According to Activision, Modern Warfare 2 is going to be the “most advanced” entry in the series to date. While Infinity Ward is the main studio working on it, there are 11 different studios helping out with the game which is using a new engine. It is also going to be the last in the annual release schedule that the series has had for over a decade, with the 2023 entry being pushed back to 2024.
