2 min read
Nvidia hosted their Special Livesteam Event today and they showed off some insane technology that we can look forward to having in our machines soon!

A Look Forward for Graphics

Today saw Nvidia host their Special Livestream Event, in which they talked about the future of graphics cards as well as the impact they would be having on current, and upcoming, games.

Fortnite Getting Ray-Tracing

The first big news of the event was that the popular online game, Fortnite, will be getting ray tracing and much more for those of us who have an RTX graphics card. The gameplay they showed off does seem to look like the graphics have a nice, cleaner sheen to them.

A New Batch of Displays

There will be a line of 360Hz G-Sync displays coming this fall from manufacturers like Alienware, Acer, and Asus. Along with this launch, the Nvidia Broadcast app will be releasing in September, which will boost streaming capabilities, such as filtering out background noise and blur the background of a streamer.

A New App for Movie-Making

The beta for the Nvidia Omniverse Machinima will be released in October. This RTX-powered app is designed to create video game movies, as well as scan in real-world movement.

Nvidia Has Some Insane, Graphical Potential

The “Marbles at Night” demo really showed off the capabilities of ray-tracing with RTX and Nvidia graphics cards. While we can’t expect this kind of graphical capabilities in games anytime soon, but it is a cool glimpse at what the future can hold.

The Insane Graphics That Will Be Available Soon

The biggest news – that we also, unfortunately, knew about beforehand due to leaks – was the RTX 3000-series which is launching today. The event showed off the new line of graphics cards and here’s what they are capable of:

The RTX 3070 stars at $499. It uses 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM, it is also 60% faster than the original RTX 2070, and will hit a resolution between 4K and 1440p resolutions.

The GeForce RTX 3080 has a GDDR6X memory, 19Gbps memory buffer, it is able to run games at 4K and 60 frames per second. Pricing starts at $699 and will be available on September 17.

The monster of them all is the RTX 3090, which has a huge 24GB of GDDR6X, is 50% faster than the RTX Titan, and it runs games at 60fps at 8K. This kind of performance is only matched by its price point: $1,499.
