Resident Evil 4 Remake is Coming

2 min read

A remake of the, arguably, most popular entry in the Resident Evil franchise is coming, continuing Capcom’s trend of revamping the older entries in the mainline series.

The news came during the PlayStation State of Play yesterday with a trailer to show off the look of the game. We didn’t see much besides some teases at the well-known characters of locations of the game, including shots of Leon Kennedy and a picture of Ashley, the daughter of the U.S. president, who Leon is sent to retrieve.

Now, this won’t be a complete 1-to-1 remake of the original game, as Capcom is aiming to “freshen” it up as they did their remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.

“[Resident Evil 4 Remake] is being developed to achieve state-of-the-art quality for a survival horror suitable for 2023, while preserving the essence of the original game. We aim to make the game feel familiar to fans of the series, while also providing a fresh feeling to it. This is being done by reimagining the storyline of the game while keeping the essence of its direction, modernizing the graphics, and updating the controls to a modern standard.”

Players have also been quick to note some possible connections to Resident Evil: Village, which also takes places in a snowy, creepy location.

While the trailer was focused on PS5, the game will also be coming to Xbox Series X|S and PC on March 24th, 2023.
