Well, it looks like we have unofficially official confirmation on the long-rumored remake of the original The Last of Us, as a leak has seemingly confirmed the game is coming, and that it’s coming soon.

The leak came from Sony’s Playstation Direct site, which had a listing for the game, called The Last of Us Part 1. At the time, there was also a trailer that accompanied the posting, though it appears that both have been removed. However, that hasn’t stopped people from seeing it and taking what they could from, since we have the box art for the game right here:

The game looks to be modernization of the game, while still staying true to the gameplay of that original release. The listing describes the game as a “total overhaul of the original experience, faithfully reproduced but incorporating modernized gameplay, improved controls and expanded accessibility options. Plus, feel immersed with improved effects and enhanced exploration and combat.”

It looks like that game will be available in two editions: standard and Firefly Edition, the latter of which will include a steelbook case, copies of the first four issues of Last of Us: American Dreams comics, as well as “early in-game unlocks”.

It’s an interesting move to remake the game, as even though it came out almost nine years ago, it still feels very modern and easy to play. However, it looks as if Naughty Dog and Sony are looking to bring it up to par with the game’s 2020 sequel, including the name change.

The leak also confirms that the game will be arriving on September 2nd of this year for Playstation 5, with a PC version in development.
