EA Loses FIFA License
1 min readAfter nearly three decades, EA is no longer going to be developing any more games in the FIFA series, as the two have split.
EA is still going to be developing and releasing the upcoming FIFA 23, and this will be the last game the two work together on. Going forward, EA is still going to be developing their own soccer series, called EA Sport FC. Speaking about the change, EA says:
“This new independent platform will bring fresh opportunity – to innovate, create and evolve.”
It is also important to note that the license loss is just with the name of the game; EA will still be holding the licenses for players, clubs, and leagues. This includes “19,000+ players, 700+ teams, 100+ stadiums and 30 leagues.”

FIFA is also going to able to publish new soccer games, as it will be working with other parties to develop new soccer games and non-simulation games.
For FIFA 23, players can expect “more features, game modes, World Cup content, clubs, leagues, competitions, and players than any FIFA title before.”
