Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Officially Announced

2 min read
We've got the official announcement for the next game in the popular series.

After yesterday’s live stream tease, we now have our official announcement for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which is set to come to both next-gen and current-gen consoles, as well as PC this upcoming holiday season.

Ubisoft, the developer behind the long-running series, confirmed that the game will be set in 9th Century Europe, with players taking on the role of Eivor, a Viking raider who leads their people out of Norway and into the kingdoms of England.

The trailer did not showcase any direct gameplay, but we did have some indications of what to expect, namely the settlement that Eivor is leading. The game’s director, Ashraf Ismail, emphasized the importance of the settlement in a statement to IGN before the announcement:

“The settlement is a key feature of the game. It’s quite grand in what we’re trying to achieve with it. We want you to feel that this is your home, that you’re building, that a lot of what you’re doing in the game world is, at the end of the day, going to feed into the settlement so that it can grow, it can flourish. We have a ton of buildings that people can build. Each building comes with its own gameplay purpose.”

The game promises to continue with the series’ turn into a more RPG-style of game, which was started with 2017’s Assassin’s Creed Origins. Giving player’s an open-world to explore, more customization options for their characters, and more, it looks like players will have a lot of content to dive into when the game launches.
